about

The demo version of 'The Garden', a single from my 2018 four track EP released under the name 'Jack Oliver Monty' with a re-recorded vocal and added instrumentation.

lyrics

We grew up in a garden there was magic in the air, the sun the trees the birds and bees did not seem so rare.
Laying on the grass for hours, at the clouds we'd stare. If heaven was a place on earth we had found it there and it was good.
The garden was our home and it was good.
They built around the garden and they locked the door, I asked them why and they replied we weren't aloud in anymore. Our new homes were just grey all over the bedrooms and the showers, and as a move in gift they gave us bunches of grey flowers and it was dark. The concrete was our home and it was dark.
We grew up in a city there was poison in the air, the smog the haze the lamplit days the dead computer stare. We forgot about the garden and we let it die right there, they gave us pills and working hours so we didn't have to care and we went down.
We went wrong somehow.
